This course provides all the rudimentary information needed to become proficient in Revit families. They enhance stability to guarantee that the families avoid corruption and unintended errors. Using either one of these or a combination will supercharge your families to the next level and significantly improve their management and consistency across your organisation. Nesting families improve the organisation and management of families by hosting them inside other families. Formulas allow us to control parameters based on other parameters or variables, thus building automation into the families. We’ll then finish by learning two of the most complex aspects of Revit family creation: nesting families and formulas. Discover the types of tags that extract and display information about Revit elements in views and 2D symbolic annotation. We’ll then look at different types of families, including 2D families for construction detail embellishment. These will assist in adding a variation to the family, including visibility, materiality and detail levels.

Once you understand the basics, we’ll start to look at ways to increase the family's functionality by implementing additional and more advanced tools. Once we have created the basic family, we will load them into a project, place them within the building model and adjust some of the parameters we have created. We’ll also make the family parametric by using parameters to control key dimensions to create different types that we can place into a project model. We will explore different types of geometry creation to ensure that you are fully aware of all the methods within the family editor. By following the simple process, we can ensure that a family has a high degree of integrity and stability. We will create a basic piece of furniture by going through each step in detail. We will first examine the structure of families inside Revit by examining the hierarchy of elements right down to individual objects.

This course will teach you all the basic steps you will need to understand and build Revit families, how they fit into the Revit modelling and environment management.
